Man seen up pole…
Living on the Welsh coast, what else would you think about other than the weather?!
Alan runs a blog called “A Simple Life of Luxury” and whilst browsing the Internet today, I stumbled across this blog. One post which caught my eye was entitled ‘Borth Weather Station‘. If I lived there, on the coast, I’d probably set up my own weather station too - great thinking Alan!
The fact I stumbled across his blog today was quite spooky as it was only last night that I was looking at home weather stations on the Internet - no intention to buy, just filling in some spare moments of my life. Buy a wireless weather station for a few hundred pounds, connect it to a spare PC and then to you website via a clever bit of software and you can publish live weather data to the world!
Here’s an examle of a live set of data from such a set up in a shop in the UK - you’ll need to have Macromedia’s FlashPlayer installed to view the data.

Vistit the shop’s home page for more information:

I’ve just been sitting here watching the wind direction change in real-time - that’s cool (okay, it may be a little geeky!)

Just thought I’d let you know that I now have the weather station up and running and it is available online at http://www.forces-of-nature.co.uk via the ‘Weather Station’ option in the menu.
Data is updated every minute 24 hours a day and in addition to current data from the weather station there is also plenty of information showing the recent trends in the weather, the highs and lows reached each day, month year and for all time and of course lots of graphs and charts to keep even the most statistcally minded ‘weather anorak’ happy.
Although originally conceived as a service for the windsurfers, kitesurfers and surfers that use the beach here at Borth, it is hoped that it will be of interested and useful to people from all walks of life, including the fishermen, golfers, dog-walkers and anyone with an interest in the local weather… Which, lets face it, here in West Wales is pretty much everyone!
Alan.
