Okay, the festive season is upon us and with it some festive craziness! This Sunday (4th December) sees the 5th Santa Run in Newtown, Mid Wales.

Back in 2001, 501 Santas took part. 2004 saw a Guinness World Record broken for the ‘Largest Gathering Of Santas’ (Update: The Newtown Santa Run was outdone by Benfica football club in Portugal where a crowd of some 15, 000 Santas gathered at a match on the 18 December 2004). Who knows how many Santas will turn up this weekend in Mid Wales?! (Obviously there is only one ‘real’ one though!).

Over 4000 adults took part in the record breaking 2004 event, all running the 4.5 mile course in the mandatory Santa suit and raising a total of around £150,000 for charity.
