“…at the wrong airport”

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

You have to wonder how this could ever happen:
“The pilot apologised and said, ‘We may have arrived at the wrong airport’”
An Eirjet passenger plane mistakenly landed at a military base in Ireland instead of Dublin airport City of Derry Airport.
Wow.  Read the story here.

Welsh for Sports

Monday, March 20th, 2006

If you run or cycle then get yourself a Foska Welsh shirt.  Wear the flag with pride whilst you’re out training.  While you’re there and the credit card is out, why not buy a Welsh water bottle too.

DigiGuide

Sunday, March 19th, 2006

DigiGuide is a great bit of software which I’ve been using for years.  If you watch a lot of television, in fact any television at all, then this software is for you.
For only £8.99 a year (less than 75p per month), you get all the television and radio listings you could dream of.  All the […]

Get ready to hear “I’ve started so I’ll finish” in Welsh: Dwi di dechrau felly mi orffennai.

Broadband in Wales

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Good news for Welsh computer users.  If you’re currently unable to get broadband because your local exchange hasn’t been upgraded, then there is now light at the end of the dial-up tunnel.
The Welsh Assembly has signed a deal with BT to upgrade the last 35 exchanges bringing broadband to a further 10,000 Welsh homes and […]

The Legend of Gelert

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

Wales is awash with myth, legends and fairy tales, and I’m not talking about Welsh sport.
One story which will bring a tear to even the coolest eye is that of Gelert.

Coffee

Monday, March 13th, 2006

I’m finally getting around to reading my backlog of National Geographic magazines.  I’ve plucked January 2005’s issue out of the stack and have just been reading about coffee - “the world’s most popular psychoactive drug“.
As usual, the photography accompanying the article is outstanding.  Take a trip to the National Geographic website to see some of […]

US in Cardiff

Sunday, March 12th, 2006

Okay, so the US don’t have an embassy in Wales but they do have a ‘Welsh Affairs‘ office in Cardiff.
They inform us that: “Ties between Wales and the United States have always been strong, whether judged by distinguished individuals (such as the 16 signers of the Declaration of Independence and 11 U.S. Presidents who were […]

Ramble In Wales

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

One of the things which Wales is famous for is its countryside.  Hills, valleys and breathtaking coastal sections, Wales has it all.
If you’re like me then you’ll fail to really appreciate what’s around you - so turn over a new leaf and get out there and start exploring Wales this weekend.  The Ramblers Association Wales […]
