More Cash or No Budget!
The opposition is holding strong against Labour’s budget proposal unless it includes more funding for schools and universities. Chancellor Gordon Brown, however, has proposed an extra £165m for Wales over the next four years, with £9m available next year. The indication is that the Conservatives will back this new proposed budget if enough of the £9m goes to education.
As the opposition holds small majority in the Welsh Assembly, public services “left in limbo” maintains the Labour Party, should the Assembly fail to approve the budget on the 13th.
