Wales of the Past
The BBC’s North East Wales blog announces the addition of more old photographs of Wales to the BBC site. It’s always interesting to see how our local areas have changed over the years and BBC Wales is collating a great selection of images for our viewing pleasure.
Talking of old photographs, take a look at Swansea Heritage and see some of Swansea’s history in photographs.

Another site of interest for photos is 1940’s Swansea Bay which is a museum reflecting the times in Swansea during WWII. When I visited there it was fascinating and a bit scary to sit in an air raid shelter which is one of the exhibits. The sound effects were excellent and I felt as though I were sitting in the dark during an air raid. Gives a person a different perspective to be sure.
At any rate, Swansea was pretty badly hit during WWII by German bombers and it’s really surprising when you see the photos of what the city looked like after the air raids.
