Jones Takes a Hit for Wales
Stephen Jones, in his first year Captaining Wales in Six Nations has taken some heavy hits from the press after the Wales-Scotland face off on the 10th. “The criticism is frustrating from a personal aspect and from a team perspective,” remarked Jones.
But he’ll be getting some help for the remainder of the 2007 Six Nations competition with the addition of a new Specialist Sports Psychologist. Joining the team, John Neal, will see out the remainder of the season. With a good deal of experience under his belt, WRU Chief Executive, Roger Lewis, feels Neal will be a definite asset to the Welsh team. You can read a very brief article on that here.
In addition, Gareth Jenkins is doing a bit of player switching for the game against France this coming weekend. We’re getting a few injured players back (Lee Bryne - Ospreys) and Shane Williams (Ospreys) will be taking the field on Saturday’s test. Jenkins has also made some big changes to the front line stating, “Up front we have looked at the physicality of our front row and have presented a different dynamic for the French match than that against Scotland.” Let’s hope his changes make for a more successful play than we’ve seen from the offense so far. Although I’m not so sure putting Duncan Jones on the bench is the best way to go about it.
