It’s happened. Despite the valiant battle by the workers, Burberry’s Treorchy factory has closed its doors for the last time.
The factory has been operating the Rhondda Valley for the past 60 years but today Burberry ceased to operate in South Wales as the site was no longer considered ‘commercially viable’.
Spare a thought for the […]

Well, in part at least.
It seems the Connaught Motor Company plans to bring in a new sports car plant and global offices to Llanelli and Amazon is putting in a huge distribution centre, offices and roads in the Fabian Way area. Amazon reckins to hire some 1,200 full-time jobs with an additional 1,500 possible […]

Should they prove successful winning power in the upcoming elections, Plaid Cyrmu has plans in the works for a “National Living Wage” among a great many other improvements geared toward citizens of Wales. Pledging the Plaid assembly government would be “the most open and transparent administration in Europe” Ieuan Wyn Jones also announced a […]

Unity Mine in Neath Valley is going into production in June bringing 60 new jobs to the area with the potential of adding 200 more. This is good news in a time when it seems all we see are facilities closings, layoffs and bad news. Hoping to bring out a million tons of […]

In today’s 5 minute news update from BBC they tell us it has been “recommended” that the powers that be lay off a considerable number (400) of staff from the Cranberry Foods factory in Abergavenny. Dumping employees at Abergavenny and moving jobs to Derbyshire is going to have a significant impact on the local […]

In a topic near and dear to my heart (namely castles), there’s a move afoot to upgrade Oystermouth Castle. The City and County of Swansea officials are looking for funding to pay for the upgrade which would contribute to the preservation of the existing structure, enhance visitor experience and improve access. So far […]

And on the road, apparently. Only this year, toads crossing a busy Neath road to reach Cwm Clydach Pond will get a helping hand from Bryncoch volunteers. Signs have been posted and volunteers will wear reflective vests to ensure love-struck toads reach their destination in one piece.
In the mess of violence, wars and […]

In keeping with the rygbi theme (and hating to come down off the cloud I’ve been on since Saturday past), it seems Gareth Jenkins won’t hesitate to replace benched Captain Stephen Jones with James Hook in the half-fly position for World Cup play.
Stopping short of removing Jones as captain, Jenkins went on to say “Stephen […]

Wel, yfory dyn ni’n chwarae Lloegr. Fydd Stephen Jones ddim yn chwarae. Ond bydd James Hook yn gwisgo rhif 10 a bydd Gareth Thomas yn chwarae yn ei le; y canol. Fel dyn ni’n gwybod, Gareth Thomas yw capten.
Pob lwc i chi, llanciau!!

The Neath Port Talbot planning commission has now given its OK to plans for a new warehouse, some offices and new roads off Fabian Way on the old Delta Compton site. Hoping to bring 1,500 jobs to the area, the distribution point warehouse will run round the clock and employ about 350 people.

Should be an interesting match - especially in view of today’s announcement that a fractured wrist will sideline Stephen Jones for the next several weeks. After leading the team to four losses, I expect in spite of a painful wrist, he might be just a tad relieved to be out of the hot seat […]
