Bilingual Welsh sign stumps Scots
Apparently a North Walian firm took along their standard signs to do some work in Scotland. Trouble was the bilingual signs were all in Welsh and English thus upsetting the local crowd.
The local MP suggested if they were going to use bilingual signs they ought to at least use the local Doric dialect. In an apparent effort to stem the flow of potential complaints about anti-Welsh language sentiments, MP Brian Adams stated: “I’m not against the Welsh language, and this is not an anti-Welsh sentiment,”. He continued, “It doesn’t matter how wonderful the Welsh language is, it’s not appropriate for this part of Scotland.”
The company apologised and promised to replace the sign with a new one as soon as possible.
