What is this, an epidemic?
In today’s 5 minute news update from BBC they tell us it has been “recommended” that the powers that be lay off a considerable number (400) of staff from the Cranberry Foods factory in Abergavenny. Dumping employees at Abergavenny and moving jobs to Derbyshire is going to have a significant impact on the local economy according to workers in the plant and the union, Amicus. Even the Welsh Assembly sees the job losses as a “blow” to the area.
So who’s next? Is yanking jobs away from Wales really the answer? I doubt it. So I leave you to ponder this question: With so many private sector firms pulling out, what’s being done to entice new business in?
