Burberry Factory Closes
It’s happened. Despite the valiant battle by the workers, Burberry’s Treorchy factory has closed its doors for the last time.
The factory has been operating the Rhondda Valley for the past 60 years but today Burberry ceased to operate in South Wales as the site was no longer considered ‘commercially viable’.
Spare a thought for the workers of Burberry’s former Treorchy factory.

Once again, history repeats itself in Wales. External investors pull the plug, and there is little or nothing that can be done about it. Pity the children of the Rhondda.
It seems to me that the future that we need to invent in Wales, is one of economic self-determinism.
Political parties can get press by waving manifestos, but it makes little difference when all the important decisions are made by London bankers.
Small businesses are the way forward for Wales. A culture of entrepreneurship must be nurtured and supported. This is the only way to slow the ‘brain-drain’ of educated Welsh students to S.E. England in search of work.
There’s lots of help from Finance Wales and the Assembly Government if you have good idea and want to develop it. It’s not as hard as you might think, and the Burberry debacle is the best motivation to get up and do something to change Wales. End of speech.
