Well Played Lads!

Looking more like slip and slide playtime, the first half slogged along with little action by either team. Heavy rain and slick surfaces made the floor just as hard to hold on to as the ball, and the scores put on the board by both sides were penalty kicks.

Halftime sent a couple of exhausted packs into the locker rooms and left the lot of us hoping for a bit more excitement in the second half. We were not disappointed.

In a brilliant run by Shane Williams who was in the best form I’ve seen in quite some time, the Ospreys completed the try by a series of perfect passes; leaving James Hook to close the deal as he put down the final touch. I couldn’t have asked for a better example of rapid-thinking, highly skilled team play! It was the Ospreys at their finest.

Action picked up after this as the Scarlets fought back and it was touch and go a couple of times as the Osprey defense once again proved their worth successfully holding off the opposing push. I’m always blown away by the Osprey defense because by some magic they manage to hold off the opponents two and a half inches from the try line!

The game wound up with a flourish in a nail-biting final four minutes, as both teams fought for possession with the Ospreys ultimately winning out over the Scarlets 19-6 in tonight’s Magners competition.

It turned into a brilliant game, well played by two teams who are well matched in some very difficult conditions. Well played lads!

Llongyfarchiadau i Chi, Gweilch!
