Welsh Cat Has 26 Toes
What? Hang on… Four feet, surely five toes per feet?
No, okay, what? Cats usually have, and this is news to me, 18 toes: five on their front paws, four on the rear. But in Wales, or Felindre to be more exact, there’s a cat with 26 toes. (Cue the X-Files music)
Apparently, according to the Beeb, the world record might belong to a cat called Mickey Mouse who was owned by Renee Delgade of Westlake Village (been there, it’s a nice place!), California, in 1974.
It’s a strange world.

We had a cat once with an extra toe. His name was Mittens because his extra toe was like an opposable thumb. When he’d walk along the top of a fence he would use it to grasp the edge of the board - very weird. And he had them on all four feet as well - I’m trying to remember now what the vet said about it at the time. I think it’s more of a throwback than a mutation.
Sweetest cat you’d ever want to meet was my Iff’n Miffins. :O)
