Now this I think is just terrific! Arts in Action will be sponsoring an exhibition of art at Swansea’s Guildhall in June and July. The exhibition will include art from young pupils in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot as well as artists and designers in their final year of study at Swansea Institute of Higher Education. These artists are part of a programme that takes them into the schools as Artists in Residence to work with the kids and their teachers in disciplines such as Surface Pattern, Architectural Glass, Fine Art and Illustration.

As an illustration instructor myself, I’m positively delighted to see a programme like this in place. Too often the arts are pushed aside in favor of more technical pursuits and children come away with little-to-no training or interest in practicing the Fine Arts.

The exhibition is scheduled to run from 27th June to 6th July in the Top Foyer of the Guildhall. Hours are 8.30am to 5pm.
