What to write about?

Funny, my automatic form filler filled in that title for me. Guess it’s not the first time I’ve had this dilemma!

Actually this time round, it’s more a case of having too much material rather than not enough. The Swansea Leader came out today and it full of interesting and exciting stuff. Well, provided you’re into Swansea that is.

Katherine Jenkins seems to like the place. It appears she’s quite impressed with all the improvements going on. So’s the Lonely Planet Guide that believes we’re coming out from under Cardiff’s shadow. I think I would agree with that. I liked Cardiff but I love Swansea. However, the one thing I would hate is to see Swansea grow into just another big city and lose all the ambiance that it has now. Time will tell on that one.

I can’t say I’m thrilled and excited about an indoor skiing facility, though, and the prospect of that simply reinforces my worry that the ambiance is going to be destroyed. I mean, honestly now. Do we really need an alpine skiing facility down by Liberty Stadium? There isn’t enough parking as it is!

Amazing what multi-millions of Pounds will buy you. But what’s the point? Somehow alpine skiing inside a covered building is not really my idea of alpine skiing. I’m all for bringing in tourist Pounds, but let’s not get carried away here folks! Face it, Wales is not known for its great alpine skiing. It is, however, known for its warm people, good climate and magnificent scenery.

So fix up the downtown area, improve the museums and waterfront area and maintain the beautiful seaside environment that you have. Don’t try and make Swansea something it isn’t. You’ll just ruin the place.
