New Historic Trail in Mumbles

Well, as hard of an act as Dave’s Sheep Poo Paper is to follow…….. silly smilie

The Swansea Council has had a coup of sorts by acquiring sufficient funding to build a new trail to link up the village with a circular “green walk”. The green walk is about six miles long, meandering through parks and woodlands. This new funding (£18,000) will provide a stone path connecting the village to the green walk. They expect to begin construction fairly soon and have it completed in a few months.

Cllr Gerald Clement (the Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism) said in an interview that “This new route will encourage more people to walk because locals will be able to get to Mumbles on foot safely through a signposted and scenic route that takes in the rich history of the area.”

In addition to self-guided walks, there are plans afoot for interpretive guides and organized walks.

It should be a really neat path when done as it will go through an iron age fort and finally enter the back of Oystermouth Castle. How fun would that be? A nice summer evening; strolling along the trail and winding up in Oystermouth for a performance? Kind of brings some romance back into life, doesn’t it?
