The Distracted Housewife

FoodOver at The Distracted Housewife, Cath shares with us her love of cooking. Cath provides the recipes currently being ‘tested’ in her Aberystwyth kitchen and also photographs of the finished meals (no, not empty plates, the pre-eating photographs). Her latest posting gives us the recipe for sponge cakes.

Hmm, I think I’ll keep an eye on Cath’s blog as some of the recipies are making my mouth water as I’m reading them - Ham and Egg Bake, for example. I was watching The River Cottage Treatment on TV last night and some of the food they were making there had a similar effect. I need to be more adventurous in the kitchen…

Oh I haven’t seen that program (The River Cottage) - I don’t think we get it on BBC America. I’ve been watching Rich Stein’s food heros of late and he’s done some lovely-sounding (and looking) dishes from Wales. He did a Welsh cheese and potato dish that was to die for!

There’s a variation of Quiche Lorraine (and don’t tell me real men don’t eat quiche! haha) that I make that sort of sounds like what she’s got there. I put a layer of lean ham in the bottom of a half pie shell and include two or three different kinds of cheese, spinach, onions and spices in the custard.

And then there’s French Onion Pie and cranberry vanilla scones and………… erm…would you excuse me. I need a napkin before I ruin my keyboard.
