Go Ioan!

I love that man! He uses Welsh whenever possible and coming from someone in his position, that goes a long way toward promoting the language.

Last night I was watching Chef Robert Irvine pull off another miracle Dinner Impossible. I love to watch Robert. The first time you see him you expect he’ll be hell on wheels, but he’s not and he not only manages to make incredibly delicious looking food, he does it in less time than it takes me to pick out a new dress.

Anyway, last night he was cooking for the premiere of Amazing Grace - so it was a repeat. But I hadn’t seen it. After the premiere, everyone showed up for food and drinks. Well, Robert decided to cook Cornish Pasties in honour of his ‘fellow countryman’ who turned out to be none other than Ioan Gruffudd!

Well, after all the goodies were consumed, Ioan paid him a visit in the kitchen and before leaving thanked Chef Robert, are you ready, in Welsh! Yep, he said “Diolch yn fawr” - you could have knocked me over with a feather to hear Welsh spoken on American TV. He followed immediately with the English translation, of course for the benefit of all and sundry.

To say I was chuffed to bits is an understatement. Da Iawn Ioan!
