Reit.
Well, I hope you all noticed that I refrained from commenting on the perfectly horrible rugby match this past weekend. Although I must say that after reading Gareth Jenkins’ pre-game comments I didn’t hold out much hope. I mean what can you expect when the coach says “IF we can……”
Perhaps things will be helped along in future generations by a judge in Cardiff who opted to give Dale Burn community service as punishment for his bad behaviour. The idea being he can help the younger set learn the skills they’ll need to get into the big leagues whilst redeeming himself.
What amazed me about this story was the fact that he did the burglaries at all. When he told the court that he’d compensate the shop owners out of his ‘substantial savings’ (from insurance payments) one has to wonder why he bothered to destroy his life with a criminal record if he didn’t, at least, need the money.
Well, maybe that will prove a lesson to the youth as well. Here’s a guy who was riding high and has now fallen WAY out of grace. I hope he can pull himself back and learn from this. I imagine it’s been a very hard go dropping from fame, fortune and a bright future to living a quiet life outside the public eye. Still, there are plenty of ways to use up all that energy without committing crimes. Just ask Gavin……
