A Rainy Night in Swansea

Don’t you love rainy nights? I do. There’s something inherently romantic about them. I always want to dash home and cuddle up to someone I adore in the sanctuary of dryness, warmth and the cozy lights of our world. To snuggle with him in front of the TV, my head on his shoulder, listening to his heartbeat and the echo of his voice through his chest as he speaks softly to me. Perhaps a cup of hot chocolate or a glass of wine at hand to ease away the worries of the day.

And all the while the rain falls, gently at first and then with strength as darkness settles in earnest; it’s random tapping turning to a steady knocking as it hits the roof and rolls down to start its long journey back to the sea.
Today is one of those days. It’s the day of my late class and as I left the campus the quiet of a rainy night had descended upon it. The few students that were still wandering about were hidden under umbrellas, walking purposely through the dusk; intent to get where they were going before the light sprinkle became real rain.

There’s a certain peace here in Swansea tonight. It is the soft peace of a rainy night.
