Wow! Dylan Thomas Really Got Around
The National Library of Wales has put Dylan Thomas’ passport online for anyone interested in the man and his travels. You may view it here. I took a quick look through it and it’s pretty neat to be able to see all the places he visited during his lifetime.
The Evening Post has a nice introductory article to the passport which is part of a library exhibition. And you can read that here.
After listening to Thomas read his A Child’s Christmas in Wales for the first time this year, I admit I was surprised to read that he was only 39 when he died. To me he sounded much older in that reading.
However, I also must say that his passport photo is a heck of a lot better than mine even though it’s described as “the traditional expressionless passport picture” and was taken in the 50’s. Maybe I should have done mine in black and white too. Couldn’t be any worse! :O(

I find it interesting that they list his place of residence as “England” (not Wales or Britain or . . .)
