You’re going to do what?
I’m no bible thumping prude but I have to say, there’s something VERY wrong about this. It goes beyond religious belief. It’s just plain wrong. I know, I know, they say it will possibly lead to the cure for horrible diseases that at the moment are not curable. But honestly, will it stop there? I have my doubts.
For a long time I’ve bucked the powers-that-be in the U.S. who seem to feel it’s quite fine to pick fruit and vegetables green and then nuke them so all bacteria is destroyed and the fruit will last forever. Not only does it go against nature to preserve things forever (no califlower should last a month an a half and still show no signs of degredation), but the food tastes like you-know-what too. And does it offend you as much as it does me to cut open a tomato for your sandwich and find three sprouted seeds inside? Ych-y-fi!!
Then they decided that if they messed with the genes of plants they could create plants with their own built-in-pesticides! Great idea (not). But I think only giraffes are really equipped to deal with food that has its own built-in chemical weaponry. People certainly aren’t. If it kills weavels, it will probably kill me.
So where does the ‘anything for a buck’ mentality stop and proper consideration given to the future health of people today and in years to come. Nobody knows how all this stuff will affect people. Often it takes years to determine that. Just look at artificial sweetners and nuclear accents.
No. I will never condone creating embryos that are half human and half cow or half anything else. I reiterate, it’s just plain wrong and goes against nature. And, as someone on ForumWales said (well put Trev) “you can’t push nature without getting pushed back”. And mark my words, sooner or later this will come back and bite us.

Your quite right Arwen if they hadn’t started vaccinating people with Cowpox millions would have died from Smallpox and the world would be a much nicer place.

To my mind there’s a big difference between vaccinating people against disease and creating creatures from a combination of genes. Honestly, doesn’t it bother you that they are mixing species? That’s what I’m complaining about. Clone humans from humans? Fine. Invitro fertilization? I’m all for it. But something about mixing a cow with a human and coming up with viable cells just rubs me the wrong way. Sorry.
