How to type a 'to bach' (^)

Postby Sioni on Sat Jul 16, 2005 2:17 pm

If you've ever wondered how to get a 'to bach', it's easy:

On European keyboards there is an "Alt Gr" key to the right of the Space Bar. Press this key and while it's pressed down press the ^ key (above the 6). Release the keys and type the letter to place the 'to bach' on it:

â ê î ô û ŵ ŷ

Easy! :wink:

Diolch Siôn. On American and I think Canadian keyboards as well, keyboards use a combination of the Alt key and your keypad. Be sure the numlock is on and keep the Alt key held down until you have finished typing the number. When you let up the Alt key, the character will appear.

â = Alt+0226
ê = Alt+0234
î = Alt+0238
ô = Alt+0244
û = Alt+0251
ŵ
ŷ

There are no key codes for ŵ or ŷ, however, so you can either find them on your character map (Start>All Programs>Accessories>Character Map on Windows platform) and copy/paste them or copy them from above and paste on notepad.

Y ffurf wreiddiol yw ŷm. Mae angen y to bach i gael y sŵn iawn. Dyma sut mae'r gwahanol ffurfiau'n edrych:

ŷm
Yr ydym
Rŷm
Rŷn
Rydyn

Pan taw un sillaf sydd, mae angen y to bach. :wink:

'Utility' in this case is 'Gwasanaeth'

Defnyddioldeb is usefulness/utility. :wink:

I will try the utility - Bydda i'n rhoi cynnig ar y gwasanaeth.

You're doing fine. You're just using words which are a little difficult due to the fact that they have several meanings.

I don't think that 'utility' would be part of someone's everyday speech. :wink:

Thanks. :D

No, you're right. And in this case it's referring to a type of software so it's probably even more specific than 'utility' in general.
